Started well , Rhian unlucky wi` his shot just wide o` post. Oli then unlucky wi` a shot saved by a defenders arm, no problem wasn`t given as a pen, though if it`d been Egan in the prem
After that, we had 30 minutes of Preston grafting but wi`out threat, possession is nowt unless tha does summat decent wi` it.
We then score, a well taken goal By Ili , sent the defence into the terracing while he drifted across goal and slotted a fine goal, Sander then wi` a driving run sets him up for another but the `keeper`s knee saves preston from a 2 nil deficit. Not sure he knew owt about it though.
So half time, 1-0 , preston no threat apart from a Wiseman drive over bar & Blades 4 good chances and that despite us not being on top form. Much better second half, Blades a threat several times, Preston continue to trudge on creating nowt but wayward shots and hitting against the massed ranks of the brick wall that is our back three.
Oli scores a second, nicely slipped in after another immense show of strength by our Sander. the defender tried gamely to push Sander over, but it`s like pushing against an ocean liner, he slithers to the ground waving the white flag. Sander clips the ball to Oli and it`s game over.
We get a couple more chances to complete the contest and Preston actually have the cheek , late on, to make Wes save a shot. he does because he is awake to their little transgression. A top player happy in his "Tha shall not pass" mode.
Top o` table, long may it last. And this wi` having about 45 injured players and only one defender wi` a left foot. Nice to see Billy back, wins a foul up the field first touch and clears a ball defending wi his next, there`s no end to his super powers. RND class again, all rest did well in spells, just a little gap in the midfield that wanted shutting second half, it was.
