After weighing up all the options, I've decided to give this site a go. It's cheap, stable and offers the functions that a forum like this requires. The site is still a work in progress as I'm finding my way around the admin section, but registration and posting is possible. I would like to thank everyone who offered to help with donations of money and time, but with this solution, I don't think we'll need any cash or time donated. I've persuaded the existing sponsor to continue to support the site and they are happy to do so, given the low spend for the site etc. Anyway, I'm sorry to have messed people about with the new site and then switching to this one, but I didn't know this sort of thing was available. It'll mean www.unitedite.co.uk can go on for the foreseeable future. Cheers, John AKA SOC |

All looks ok and the site seems to working and doing everything it's supposed to do. The customization options are pretty limited, but it serves the purpose. The cons are very much outweighed by the pros e.g. it's cheap, stable and does the same as the previous forum. I appreciate all the offers of help I've had and if anyone has any suggestions, please contact me. The only thing that is bothering me with the forum is the icons, but I'll get around to tarting those up in time. If you can promote the site online, by all means do so, it's be nice to entice some old members and some new ones back on the site.

Thanks John - glad you are still involved, I am delighted to see the site up and running again, and I see some of the "old faces" are here again - welcome Fred, Muttley, etc. Like Drapeski I don't post a lot, but daily reading of the site is compulsory!

anybody know how to put your picture on the profile.i managed it easily when i updated on the other format but i have'nt a clue how to do it on this one.i know you have to make an avatar but what's a fekkin url? please help an old kodger out

Ayup Hippy! I just pressed images after googling "fred emney" found the smallest pic... copied the internet address of this pic on the address bar or whatever you call it and then pasted this into the URL thingy on profile, seemed to work even if i`m the adrian heath/billy mcewen of computer management. |
