Armstrong to attend Sheff Utd game Posted on: Tue 19 Apr 2011 Both Reading FC and Sheffield United will pay tribute to Chris Armstrong when the teams play each other at Madejski Stadium on Easter Monday, 25th April, kick off 3pm.
Armstrong retired from professional football last month, having been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in December 2009, and this game represents a fitting opportunity for supporters on all four sides of the ground to show their appreciation for the 28-year old; he became a fans' favourite for both clubs with his fantastic commitment to the cause and quality on the pitch.
Chris will be invited to lead both teams out onto the pitch just before kick off, where he will receive a round of applause from both sets of fans, and representatives from each club will present him with framed autographed shirts.
A collection will take place by the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre on the day of the game.
Best of luck to Chris, he did well for us, always gave his all.
several times he was written off after injury but he always fought back, it was only kevin t**twells`s short sighted policy of bringing shite to the lane that scuppered Chris`s chances with the Blades. he deserved better.
a good lad .

The dulcet tones of captain marvel/mingeing manager left us in feb 2008. Blackwell before the start of the 08-09 season decided that Armstrong had a bit of football skill & well, just couldn`t lump it as far as some of the others, so blackie got rid.
By the end of the following season he`d successfully got rid of the rest of the footballers too, added a few more closet hackers & with not a mile per hour between `em in pace, the rest is history!!.
well done blackie you sopwith bloody camel!

Good old Chris! I see that he refers to Sheffield United as a "Massive Club" in his interview, but I don't think he means it in quite the way we do when we refer to the "massive club" in Sheffield 6!!!!!

I heard when he said 'Massive club' He formed an imaginary globe with his hands in mid-air just to emphasise the point

Well, why not, Goldenslew? After all, we are half a world away in New Zealand and we have been Blades for over 40 years! Mind you, we were Blades in Sheffield first! It is just great to see that we get lots of coverage here and that football is growing in NZ. We have four English players in our local team that we support, all semi-pro's. By the way, I do enjoy your contributions to this Board.

Cheers Baldenz! I can I am amongst freinds here I just wish we can keep some of the youngsters. The club is far more important than anyone one man, but we just sell them off to the highest bidder. Its been like this since as far back as I can remember and with going into the third tier, there has never been a finer time for McScrooge to get the gavel out I was watching the ManUre match last night and they reckon Schalke has 92,000 owners. I would love us all to be able to club together and buy the club once and for all and get rid of the thieves that take the urine out of us.

Yes, you are among friends on this Board. I have always found Blades to be the most friendly and funny people and I do so enjoy the banter on here. Muttley has become a friend over the years, and so have others. Mind you - you'll have to watch it - the name is Bladenz NOT Baldenz, although that might be nearer the truth than you realised - I am a bit thin on top these days.
