Even though during my time as a Blade we have traipsed the full four divisions, lots of relegations, lots of promotions. But the manner of this relegation has been hard to stomach.
The rot started with warnocks shit january buys in the prem & his poor tactics away from home after christmas. Polishing his ego was far more important than The Blades.
He deserved to be moved out, but robson was a colossal mistake, however he left a reasonable squad & even a moron like Blackwell was able to put them in the right order to play some style of football that season, he didn`t tinker to much, let them play.
Then the real blackwell took over , lump it, kill the game, lump it, & if all else fails, er lump it.
With a huge touch of luck & an incredible march from cotts (never to be repeated) we reach the play off finals... where we fell back on , er, lump it.
The club must`ve taken some dosh from this match?. Now was the time to put a proper manager in to see us to the promised land, to introduce football back at the lane, onward & upward.
instead we get a season of low standards, high balls & Jordan Stewart. A last 2 games with a lucky win v. swans & a win v. a weak bunch of youngsters at ipswich gave us a flattering finish in the top half, we were mediocre & worse for much of the season, lots of loans & Blackwell was now getting in his type of player... andy taylor, jordan Stewart etc., to bring out the "best" in monty , hendo etc. (never has the word 'best' been savaged more)
time for him to go end of season... no thanks he`s just too f**kin` cheap for the chairman to let go!!
probably the biggest mistake in our history. akin to Brearley selling Brian Deane while saint Dave was away 1993, or john mathews shitting his pants at taking the pen v. walsall 1980 (step forward poor Don Givens)
Balckie then proceded to add to the squad the quality of Nosworthy.... doesn`t this one signing say everything about blackie!.
His squad was worthy of between 18th & 24th place in the league, we couldn`t even score against non league excrement pre season, all was obvious to everyone but Mct**ttingCabe.
Speed brought Reid in.... now the squad was at least worthy of between 15th & 19th place all of a sudden. just imagine what heights we could`ve got with some more actual quality like him.
micky comes in, reid goes, Micky has a shit bunch of players at his disposal, no one wants to join his squad in january ,no one but Jock mcShits, back we go to a worthy 18th to 24th place.
What a sodding calamity of an extended series of complete & utter thick as f**k decisions taken by our board. We are completely infested with a blackwell slow hackers mentality now ... nowhere to go but down.
get rid of hendo, cressy, taylor, monty, boggy and the rest of the static cloggers & bring in players who are pacey & can actually control a ball.
all just a year or two late... oh for what could have been
