The Players will Pay Back the Fans Next Season
Blades boss Micky Adams insists that any players still at the club next year need to pay back the fans who have seen their team relegated this year.
Speaking after Saturday`s draw with Barnsley, Adams praised the supporters and admitted it was the lowest point of his professional career, although like the board`s recent statement insists there are better times around the corner.
'We wanted to end on a high at the Lane and our fans were magnificent. The players have been told that those that remain should take that on board and be determined to pay them back next season.
'Our fans are very passionate and they will be back next season supporting their team in League One. This is the lowest point of my career but I really want to take charge of the Club next season and in a year's time be celebrating a return to the Championship.
'I know how disappointed the fans are feeling because I have stood on the terraces and know what it is about. My message to them would be to keep the faith and have trust in the people running the club because we will get it right.
'It is hard to take for us all tonight but sometimes you have to take a step backwards in order to go forwards.'
Alas, most of the culprits will have long gone from the Lane, some have already left, so don`t expect hendo, monty, nossa, boggy, bent & all the rest to pay back the damage they have done. Likewise Blackwell & elllis. All these mercenaries will be counting their dosh elsewhere in a few months, caring not a jot for the mess they left The blades in.
... this is, of course, assuming that other clubs will be daft enough to take some of our shit off our hands.
Hmmm, maybe we WILL be left with the hendo`s monty`s boggy`s, collins`s etc. It`ll be the young`uns that`ll attract the money, plus maybe a cheeky bid for Evans & Quinn.
Apart from the money we got for Lee Morris, every player we`ve ever sold has gone way under their worth, it`s the Blades boards way.
