Wow, what a great first half that was... quick sharp passing with purpose, great running, good finishing, skill, pressure and thought... and all against a top side.
Norwood/Fleck/Duffy, what a midfield.. yes it was nice to see Coutts on the bench but i have to admit i think Norwood is better and he adds dead ball specialist to his armoury. Good that Coutts is there should any of Norwood and Fleck get injured.
Superb first half 3 up, could easily have been 5, second half Billy adds to it and McGoldrick so unlucky not to score twice. Villa score from one of their only two real chances, the other was a timid shot into Dean`s safe hands.
It could well be the best first half of football for many a year, reluctant to say ever as i recall being 4 up v, ipswich at half time and whipping west ham in another back in 71/72 but today was brilliant and only a star struck ref kept Villa alive from a hiding...
McGoldrick through unopposed on goal, tripped, obvious foul, possible red card... ref plays on
Billy fouled, foul goes to west ham
Grealish , pathetic dive, should be booked, not a chance. Later he is booked and indeed could`ve been booked for several reasons as well for being a slimy greasy haired egotistical arse`ole.
Hutton is tackled well, we break and Hutton squeals and gets a free kick for throwing his sporran out of his handbag.
A few other strange free kicks villa given for us tackling made a rather shit refereeing display and yet we still slaughtered Egor Bruce`s Villains.
Every player was excellent and even young Lundstram did well , though i guess coming on at 4-1 helps... but we were sitting a bit too deep at that stage and his tackle on Grealish was drooling stuff! washington looked a handful when he came on too after another excellent shift from Billy.
Billy`s buddy up front on this occasion had an exceptional game too, always a menace and deserved a goal or two.
Up to 3rd, what a shame there`s an international break now.
Great game from United, thought the win at notlob would be hard to beat as a performance, well looks like i was wrong. Brilliant day !
