Well that wasn`t quite what we expected.
Passing was pretty rubbish, especially from young Freeman who seemed intent to ruin our every attack and indeed set up a few for them an`all.... was the trip to Albania midweek the undoing of our lad? Are the international travel problems for our lads holding us back?
Rotherham were nothing much, one plan: lots of hard work followed by a lump into the box and hope for a lucky break or the ball lands on the 9ft 8 gondola pole up top.... and yet our poor passing, poor crossing made them look almost decent. Hendo was on form luckily and 1 very good save and 2 other reasonable efforts kept us afloat.
and yet... 2 very good goals, Superb composure from Duffy for the first and the absolute best cross of the match from Billy to get the second (despite Freeman`s attempt to put Bash off). How Billy must wish for service like HE gave there. McGoldrick also missed the next easiest chance of the game and that goes in it`s probably a win, pack up 3 points, toss it in the carrier bag and head home...
But shambles passing leading to a horrible deflection of a folding Bash and it`s 1-1... and 3 minutes into added time, Johnson decides not to pass outside him and run down time, and thinks i`ll sneak a goal here.... oops number one. Down the wing the ball goes, ne`er mind Edna is there, oops he`s dived in clumsy and off balance, now then youth that were easy.... oops number two. the ball in the box is luckily crap, there`s 3 or 4 of our lads who could dispatch that into the fans bovril at the back o` the terrace, but is there no call?, what`s going off? Bash has it but Ollie thinks he has to intercept... oops number three. Ball ends up at feet of an attacker and it`s a point each.
despite all rotherham`s attacking they are two needless, in fact idiotic, goals to give away.
Never seen Freeman have a bad a game as that and it seemed to be infectious at times. And yet we were due a win when not playing great, it`s happened to us so many times over the past two years, surely we were due one, we did enough as it happens but then the late comedy of errors and our gentle slide continues.
Hope we are up for brentford
