Jack Charlton passes away , a good old fashioned centre back, i`m sure he`d swell wi` pride seeing our 3 colossal centre backs taking his position to new great heights.
Here`s hoping all 3 are on the scoring sheet v. chelsea, that`d be a good send off for the old gent and would bloody well make me happy an` all !!
Jack weren`t a Blade, in fact he once managed the scumbags in division 3, but will side step that scrawny part of his career.
He were a world cup winner and another player from my youth sadly gone. he was tough and hard , occasionally mucky as a player but a fair mucky player unlike the rest of the leeds team (bar Mick Jones)... When he fouled he took one for the team, sometimes he were just clumsy... but never seemed to be vicious or conniving. i read his book once and he couldn`t believe why good players like Giles and Clarke resorted to over the ball tackles & snide rakes down players legs.
I recall Lorimer (couldn`t hit a ball like Woody) and a few others trying to wipe a few of our lads out in the 70s, dirty bloody leeds alright, yet Jack was above that and had a sense of humour and a love of a pint to match.
So later today let`s hope to see our gentleman of the centre back club put on a superb performance at both ends of the pitch v. chelsea for all the glorious centre backs of old.

I'll echo that fred. When I was a youngster I worked in Leeds, so went to elland road regularly. ( not a Leeds fan , but just wanted to see first division and European teams play) it was when Jack Charlton, bremner, giles, madeley and the rest were at their peak. Norman hunter was definitely the dirtiest player I've ever seen , but a really nice guy off the pitch! Makes me feel old when we see such great players from our youth passing. RIP big Jack.

Very true matey, too many lads have past away including Trevor, Gil, Hopey and Woody from that amazing late 60s early 70s side. Every player from that era what ever side they played for brings that tinge of sadness when they pass away.
Oh aye and you`re right, makes you feel massively old an` all
