Well what a farce, two players shirt tugging 30 yard from goal, the keeper looks favourite to lump the loose ball into the stands, the linesman is the closest to the action and he thinks everything fine... However referee Graham Scott, future Villa season ticket holder, pics of peter Withes european winner on his wall, then utilisied the Darling Trevor Brooking FA anti Blade rule 245 sub section 5. and sent Egan off.
Ruined the game completely... and yet, lovely move, Burke feeds the flying superman Bash, he`s tripped and we get a pen. Lundy takes, it`s a bit sloppy in that it`s a perfect height for a keeper to save and he does. Then again, why did he have to wait soooooo long to take it, you only have to see the way Bash was smacked to see it was a pen. but VAR tried several times to try and get it overridden, by the time they decided they couldn`t quite discard the pen lundy was in the first stages of rigidity...... and the keeper came as far forward as De Gea the other day, so why wasn`t the pen taken again?.... mind you that`s a crap rule for the keeper anyway
But the pen miss was the big chance to nick the game, Villa huffed and puffed and minced but didn`t test Ramsdale once and it took a well placed ploppy header to give them the points.
So no points after 2 games. ... Villa fans seem to think they were magnificent anyway in the 10 or so minutes before the sending off. They created nowt, they are deluded , they are what we used to class on the concrete school yard games at woodseats junior as "f**king jammy" for the second season in a row.
Bugger!

I'm sick of early red cards spoiling a potentially good game of football. Ithink unless it is really dangerous play, it should be 11 v 11 to the end ,then the guilty player banned for the next 3,6 or 10 games depending on the offences. That would be a deterrent, but still keep the game flowing.as for our performance, I think DBs report was pretty spot on,there's enough there for some optimism, but we can't afford to get too many points behind .mid table for me this season, would be great.

Totally agree, early reds are a total game killer. That could`ve been a good game monday, both teams seemed happy to attack in first 10 minutes. over 90 minutes i`m sure we`d have been the bigger threat. ... But then the ref wanted to be seen and he murdered the game as a result. Guess work from distance, and he ruins the viewing of the Blades support and the TV viewers too. Totally changed the match , totally ridiculous.
Hopefully we can get a striker or two before Leeds and also give no more reasons to give a poor referee the chance of headlines.
