At last the closed season has had some life pumped into it, thank bloody goodness. Though yes, i`ve enjoyed the cricket with Joe Root to the fore and the golf with Matt Fitzgerald, another Blade, conquering all.. but football can`t come quick enough. Blimey i`ve stopped swearing!!, well actually i haven`t , all i need is to watch the news and i`m off. My i`ve missed the football though !
Anyway we have young Anel Ahmedhodzic for our defence, quick, good keen tackler and good in the air at 6 foot 5, that`ll do me. Just a shame i can`t pronounce his chuffi`n name.
McGoldrick and Hourihane have teamed up with Derby, best of luck to `em both, and also glad they won`t be playing against us.
Tom Doyle from City looks a decent prospect in the middle and Lawrence from Derby could strengthen that further if he signs on.
I saw a headline "United after a magnificent forward from the prem"... eh?? can`t be true ?, and sadly it isn`t , the player in question is Tyler Roberts, a forward with a Danny Cadamarteri talent for scoring and he has a bloody man bun. sorry not fussed at all
Oh coincidently i`ve just had a phone call with a mate and the man bun has signed for QPR, he`ll now be shit for them instead of us, but of course will now score against us... blame me !
What else?, Bogle is still out for a while and though Jack O`C is on the grass he is as was, Blimey i hope he gets to play again. Poor lad, he deserves the best.
and Ollie Burke has gone to werder Bremen and scored 2 goals in his first (friendly) game.... fast but empty up top, hope he does well though, somewhere there`s a decent player there but he doesn`t escape the timid one that usually plied his trade for us.
Reyt back to cricket T20 today, until the next headline signing for The Mighty Blades. UTB

Nice friendly win against the portugese club that i`ve forgotten the name of... Coq au vin i think? Sander and Jebbo the scorers, nice work out for the lads.
Tom Lawrence has chosen the idle route, just the 4 tough league games a season with celtic, an easy scots domestic trophy win for his CV as only 2 clubs fight for the 3 honours available, and a dalliance in europe which always has a champions league knock out and then partying with rested teams in the EUFA losers cup.
more signings to come? .. celtic after George?, don`t do it George you`re not the idle type !

Hmmm, nice comfy wins v. Lincoln, 2 young lads up top look good, Plus Brewster and Berge cracking them in, all good.
Cue down to earth smite v. Scunthorpe, the 2 young lads look hopeless up front, can`t hold a ball up for toffee, young Broadbent at back has a bit of a calamity and our seasoned pros at the back seem to go missing, poor first half and we condede 3 clumsily easy goals. 2nd half much better and Brewster and Ndiaye do well, not quite enough but almost proved that our first teamers are good, our back ups perhaps aren`t ?
But hey, it`s early doors and they are gaining match practice and keeping free from injury. Young Arblaster looks a handy player and a good Northern name to match... when are we going to sign an Albert Clagbottom , that`s a cert for a centre half clogger and half !
Next it`s mansfield , to be played in weather that`ll have half our lads Barbequed before half time and smothered in onions and tomato sauce by the coaching staff. Perhaps it`s a good case for roll on roll off subs and plenty of liquids, perfect for us old gits!!
Meanwhile got the lad from Newcy back left, not given the most glowing CV by Newcy fans, but then they still think they are managed by kevin Keegan and have the hair to match. And the lad khadra from Brighton is taking his time signing on the dotted line.. come on youth surely you`ve been impressed by Sheffield , good God he played at 4000 holes in Blackburn Lancashire last season, Sheffield will look like palm trees and the home of the rich jet setters compared to that rat hole.
Roll on Mansfield...

Ha ! I was debating about writing and getting that game off me chest but then ,it`s a pre-season friendly in weather hotter than the planet mercury on a foggy sunday, we are still missing a few important cogs,... Please Billy get on that pitch !!!... and this Khadra saga continues and continues and could be the best signing judging by the tepid performance tonight, if we get him?
Mansfield were 1 up when i started watching, saw Brewster score a handy goal and the linesman gave a dubious offside. other than that jebbo messed up a couple of attacks and mansfield score, too feebly, 2 more. that were about it. No doubt it gave Clough junior a jolly case of goose pimples and an attack of the smirks. But nowt matters tonight. Though every centre half needs a good kick oop the arse after the last 2 games.
maybe we`ll get it right at Burton?

Well we got it right against Burton, clean safe professional win, 3 decent goals and then a rather lethargic effort first half v. the three headed beast that is Barnsley. Thought we looked way better than barnsley 2nd half, Berge hits post twice and too many half chances wasted by others. Then barnsley score from their only 2 attacks, not even sure you`d say the first one was much of an attack, just a rather big bollock up from Wes, the 2nd were never a free kick, but ne`er mind. The lads have got minutes behind `em now. Add norwood to free up Berge more and the world is a prettier place.
But we do need a play maker, Shame Doyle is injured and shame Khadra isn`t in the line up yet... is he even coming?, it`s a saga to compete with Coronation street for endurance and rumours and a shit script that makes you rather angry and frustrated because this always seems to happen with United.. every season there`s one transfer that excites and then either slips down the bog U-bend or is a reason for getting out the bunting. We`ve a week to go, stop buggering about!
Billy says he`ll be ready in time, sure hope so.. We`ve a decent line up if everyone is available... even better when Khadra finds the map oop north.

`bart bloody time an`all :-) ... Gives us some extra flair and creativity that we need.
Shame about Bogle, he was playing magic before his injury. I see Jack O`C struggling still, what a loss he`s been, He`s the extra confidence and skill missing that made Enda and Flecky so much better, he`d be in England squad and sitting pretty if it weren`t for his injury, poor lad.
Speaking of Jack , saw his lass playing a bit part for for England, first women`s game i`ve ever sat through. A bit soft and clumsy at times but enough decent moves and a couple of good finishes to make it worthwhile i guess. But the real winner was that superb stadium and the pitch and the main reason why i watched. Let`s face it Sheffield is the home of Football, oldest club wi` Sheffield FC and all that and made up a lot of the rules too...
Why the bloody hell Manchester has the National football museum i`ll never know. Football belongs to Sheffield. Manchester is like putting a mining museum in Brighton or the Museum of wales in bloody Egypt. Short rant over.
The good news is Billy is back and Khadra is there to help.
