Well, that were a bit rubbish. Then again as soon as i saw the line up, it looked like we`d lost.
Gordon, MAfee, Khadra... all still making their way into football. lots of talent but no confidence to use it yet.
Doyle nearly there.
Brewster has hardly had minutes since his recovery, no real confidence back yet.
Bash fills in for Anel and any other position when we are desperate for a defender.
and at last Egan, Wes , Ndiaye, RND, Norwood, who are usually in the first eleven these days.
Having young keen lads to bolster our team is ok, but makes things so hard for the regulars, 1 or 2 is ok but at Stoke we were filling in our holes with badly watered concrete filler.
The match? Stoke looked like scoring every attack for first 10 or so, they score after poor defending, though RND was pushed in the build up. Suddenly we are then awake, cracking shot from Doyle, very unlucky that yet again an opposition keeper turns into Gordy Banks when they play us.... Gordon unlucky with a header cleared off line, then Brewster scores. Stoke hit bar, we hit post from Ndiaye. Jags has a free header and it`s 1-2 at the break. Second half nowt happened, until we collapse after Billy is fouled and not given and the defence give away a free goal bargain with every two scored against us.
Were Stoke good, hardly, they were ok and were more of a threat. We are playing like what we are with so many injured, a below midtable eleven.
The bench had Billy, who got no service and so was negated and Jebbison who looked like he was skating through an over 60s curling festival. Osborn and the young `un on the right were ok and huffed a little. But really we had nowt that would heal the starting line up
Injuries in the last prem season, with little in reserve, after a VAR attack and shit reffing early in season, cost us relegation
Injuries and dubious "covid" postponements causing a build up of fixtures cost us promotion last year
Injuries and international piss abouts have cost us dearly this year.
There`s a link somewhere??.. answers on a postcard to the fitness specialists at the Lane... what`s happened to our magic bloody sponge?
I just read another report saying injuries are not an excuse, yes they bloody well are , 12 out and McB suspended, that`s a massive loss, all are first teamers. With them all we have the best squad in the championship, without them we are a Hull city, which is not a place i want to be.
Certainly hope we get some bodies back now we have a week long break, the first break for our international lads and a chance for limbs to heal a little
