on trial at the dingles after being released by charlton
i dont think he ever got a fair chance under blackwell, who openly promised him games to develop himself. he played the full match against port vale in the cup that season and was absolutely outstanding. unfortunately other than a couple of very short substitute appearances we never really got to see if he could perform consistently.
anyone know why charlton released him? they seemed desparate to sign him from us and he was a regular for them when he moved. maybe chris powell graduated at the school of blackwell

He, like many other players, was given little chance by lardarse, i recall he brought in several wingers, gave `em all bugger all chance & ended up playing forwards or backs on the wings instead.
Reid set Charlton alight when he joined `em on loan, scored a few goals & helped `em up the table, not sure he had quite the impact last season once he`d signed on full time, but would think he still has something to offer. Of course it`s not out the question he has just lost it, in evidence m`lud i state the case of cresswell v. Blades fans 2010-11 in which a plodding slow footballer showed happy glimpses of scoring goals & ended up a plodding slow footballer who unhappily frequently missed the sort of chances a bloke with no head could put away.

I dont think he played because he was quite simply - shit!
There are many players out there that have had me scratching my head as to why they have been associated with our club - Mamadou Seck, Geoff Horsefield, Ryan France, Davy Gisbrechts, that bloke from China...infact both of them! and that Maltese keeper.
Watching United has been like watching an old pocket watch winding its way down, slowly but surely. Various managers have kept saying how they would only bring in players to improve the team, whilst people like Squinn and Monty have kept there places. Just simply not good enough - we have found there level, rather than using these as a platform to bring in better players.
I see people released like Paul McKenna at Forest and think, he can put his foot on the ball, or even this lad we have from Burnley (McDonald). The current lot have been nothing but a desaster and who ever told Monty he was a footballer needs hanging and quartering!
Just sheer crap.
