I dont think it matters who is the kit supplier if they are paying the most money. Well, it doesnt to me anyway.
If Macron are giving us say 1 million over 3 years and Nike offered 400k over the same period, who would you choose?

As long as we keep the red and white stripes and the black shorts, I am fairly happy. Since I started watching the Blades there have been so many strips that I have got dizzy trying to remember them. It's all a sponsor's market these days! Don't you feel sorry for the parents who have to buy a new one regularly for the children?

I used to have to save up from my paper round! I used to start cleaning cars April time because they always used to release it before people went on holiday in June! Took me ages and when I got it I didnt want to wear it for football! It seemed too precious, like a musical instrument that had to go back in its case or a new car that you ensure is in the garage before going to bed. Plus the Umbro logo didnt half chaife on the nipple! Id get the away kit for christmas. That one never seemed as good as the home kit though. Going in to the Club Shop, it used to be a giant desk in those days! Great days.

The only old`un i can`t get mesen to wear is the 'don givens' 1980 "ajax" sod of a thing, right old tat & hardly stripes. Even the silly diamond shirt of mid nineties was ok as a casual shirt (not a playing strip tho`).

I 100% agree with the financials. Makes perfect sense, unless shirt sales can increase due to a better supplier. Thats the trade off I guess.
How do Southend, Swindon, Southampton, etc. lower league clubs with top kit suppliers cope?
I used to think Le Coq Sportiff were poor until I saw macron! Its not so much the name, its the quality that comes with it. You don't see a World class team wearing Macron.

I dont think it matters who is the kit supplier as to whether the fans buy it or not. A 5 year old isnt goint to turn round to his dad and tell him to shove it as it doesnt have Nike on the top!
Umbro used to sponsor the majority of the top flight including us, pigs filthy weeds. They arent around only for England shirts it would appear.
In fairness, Macron hasnt been around that long. Its great marketing by Nike/ Adidas that make you believe that any other brand is inadequate. All clobber is made by 10 year olds in a shoe box in China or Taiwan!
I could counter your argument by saying Kappa sponsored Barcelona, and Italy at one point. At school, girls that wore the shell suits and tracksuits were known as "Kappa slappers" if you remember the bright lairy colours with a white stripe and the horrible logo repeating itself up the arms?
Does that now mean that Kappa is a bad make and Barcelona lost out in potential sales?
