Fulham were rubbish but instead of an up and at`em, we sat back, waited an entire half, had a few attacks and thenflopped.
Sadly Chris Basham had an awful injury, he was doing mighty well, him and Trusty and to an extent Anel, but Bash was also trying to drive us on. We`ve been lucky to have him over the years, he`s been a marvel. Him and Jack O`Connell , both with super human fitness gave us a tactic that no other team really conquered until Jack got injured... and has never been replaced. They were colossal, one minute furthest man forward, the next furthest man back. How very lucky we`ve been to have those two. I hope Chris recovers quickly and well. I fear for his future with such a nasty injury but he`s tough and he`s a 100 % trier and Blade.
One of the troubles we`ve had is that we`ve still stuck to some of the same tactics as if Jack O`C was still playing with Bash on the opposite flank. We have to use what we`ve got and we aren`t dong that.
Why Norwood not Tom Davies? why is Brewster sat on his arse for 80 plus minutes when he`s frothing at the mouth to get on? Why Thomas ? he had a good first game , sadly his forward output is nil since. Why can`t Souza clear a ball, why is Slimane sat on the bench watching Brewster froth at the mouth? Were Archer and the rest panic buys? Really we need to use wingers in to get the best out of them. Willian was decent for Fulham, ok, he usually bollocked up but he scared our defence and they had to be careful wi` him.
What`s the point of defending for a whole half and fearing to go forward, Is there electrodes attached to our player`s arses that give out a shock if they pass halfway?
Having said all that, we did put some handy attacks in and Oli should perhaps have scored twice, just a better placed header and an extra long toe away. But the attacks only showed the fact that Fulham were a bit crap, why not attack from the start. It`s not an unpleasant thing to attack you know Hecky.
Anyway, Fulham always had a decent counter attack in `em and they got a goal, we got an equaliser with a little luck , then they got a goal with a massively bizarre bit of luck, bloody hell, it`s as if the football Gods were having a reyt laugh,.... "Ay up God old son, gi` Blades an own goal, but tell thi what, let `em suffer a keystones cop chuffin goal in return?"... " what you mean like get some daft sod to fall over, kick ball into his other foot, ball spins o`er goalie onto bar and drops down to hit goalie`s back and goes into net, that sort of thing?"... "Aye that`ll do nicely"
Trusty was good, that`s the only plus i can think of.
