One game gone, couple of injury scares already, though Porter always looked a likely candidate for propping up the treatment table. He will ,of course, have to fight off Williamson once the season gets going proper.
Be good to see how this Mendez-Laing performs, from what Our Danny says he`s the stuff of legend... fast, flair, scores goals, intelligent, scales tall buildings in 2 bounds, peace conciliator in the middle east, etc etc
hope he`s a good`un!
Blades sweat on Porter fitness Last Updated: Mon, 08 Aug 2011 17:13
Sheffield United striker Chris Porter is doubtful for the Carling Cup clash at Hartlepool due to a dead-leg. Porter, a free summer signing from Derby, sustained the injury during his Blades debut in Saturday's win at Oldham and was replaced by Daniel Bogdanovic.Bogdanovic could retain his place if Porter fails to make it or manager Danny Wilson could hand a start to teenage striker Jonathan Slew.Another summer recruit, midfielder Ryan Flynn from Falkirk, is struggling with a tight hamstring, so that could mean a debut for latest signing Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, who completed his six-month loan switch from Wolves on Friday.Forward Ched Evans is still out with an ankle injury, while player/coach Chris Morgan and fellow defenders Johnny Ertl and Andy Taylor all remain sidelined due to respective cruciate knee ligament injuries.

I dont think he would play anyway. Its important to utilise the squad in pokey little matches like this. Slew, Boggy, Philliskirk, Tonne all that should be capable against sh1te like Hartlepool - but I did say that last season Id like to see a couple of the youngsters have a game.

Seeing as non contracts can play, Duke, Kruk and Macdonald should be in, as should Harriot. Parrino has been given a phuck off tablet because he's not good enough. But row ZZ Kozzie's got a contract!
