Even the wheelie bins are on bricks there  They used to play on a Friday night if memory serves correct to draw in fans from Liverpool/ Everton. |

They did indeed mate and I made my first trip there with Saddlers in the 89-90 season. I think back in the day when watching footy was cheapo in the lower divisions supporters of Everton/Liverpool would pop over and see them in action on the Friday night before seeing their own team of the Saturday. Other teams that often used to play on a Friday night were Southend and Stockport.
Other oddities... for some reason in the 70's and 80's Port Vale used to kick off at 3.15pm on their Saturday homes.
Untill Wolves fans violence put paid to it, Torquay United used to play selective home Saturday games with a 7.30pm kick off.
I remember as a kid in the mid 60's home games in midweek used to be 7.15pm KO. Now, like many clubs, we start at 7.45pm.
How times hae changed.

Kick off times???..., used to be pretty straight forward until SKY got their grubby hands on the prem, now anything from 12.00am to 5.15pm on a saturday or sunday, nowt to ease things for the travelling or home fan. Don`t they know local hostelries aren`t easy to fit in with these random times?
bring back the days of 1970`s power cuts & 1pm tuesday afternoon kick offs!!!

Regarding kick off times, it could be worst - Barcelona Real Madrid kicked off at 11pm the other night I dont think id fancy that. Imagine what the World Cup will be like in Qatar when we are starting at 3/4 in the morning  |

Ask anybody who had the mispleasure of going there in the 4th division! Toss up between Hartlepool and tranmere as to the roughest dive in England in Thatcher's England!
