I've read on another Blades forum a rumour about Micky Adams offering his resignation after just 7 games in charge. I suspect it is what it is, a rumour and that there's no foundation to it.
It is also being reported in the National press that Adams has 2 more games to save his job? Again, I think this is pure speculation and given the run of recent results, that would tie in with the current trend of sacking managers who go on losing runs.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Adams did walk or was sacked because at SUFC, nothing surprises me anymore. We've made some terrible business and managerial decision since 2008 and one more manager leaving would be a drop in the ocean.

I hope it isn't true. The bit about 2 games left is from the very reputable source of The Mirror!
"Chairman Kevin McCabe has identified the next two games against Millwall and Reading as crucial in the club's bid to beat the drop."
1. KM isn't chairman anymore. 2. Well yes, the next 2 games are crucial, either we climb out of the relegation zone or cast further a drift. 3. Lazy journalism.

I think he'll be here next season whether we're in League 1 or not

I doubt Adams would walk and I doubt SUFC could afford to sack him at this stage of his contract. I don't think the board at SUFC see survival as a priority and they've obviously put cost cutting higher on their list of "to dos". Whilst I don't think it'd be the end of the world if we did go down, I could see us spending 1-2 seasons down there before we began to regroup as a club.
I personally don't think we'll make any progress while McCabe is still majority shareholder/owner and I think he'll see a significant reduction in his valuation of SUFC if we do go down.
I've not been inspired by what Adams has done since he arrived, but he is trying to get us out of trouble with no resources and for taking on that challenge, he deserves alot of credit. If the rumours that he's resigned are true, it would leave us in real trouble and I think it would seal our fate for this season.

When are we going to get this 'honeymoon' period that other clubs get when they change manager? First Speed, now Adams, we must have 2 months worth in the pipeline!

Let's face it, a sacking or a premature resignation is "news" and that's what journalists thrive on. They don't want to know that a manager is working hard and doing his honest best for a club. They want sensationalism. I discount the rumours and I'm sure that Admas is doing his very best for the club - after all he is a Blade!

You just get the feeling he wasn't given the right kind of money to improve the squad in January. I can imagine he doesn't feel he's getting the support required from the board to get us out of our present predicament and this would be the only reason I can imagine him pulling up sticks. How is the poor fella supposed to keep us in the Championship with Div One & Two players?!

I think that`d be the only reason bladder, but i think moo has it spot on, probably just lazy journalism, of course the next 2 games are crucial!!... & so are the 15 after that an` all.
Micky did sound pretty down after ipswich, understandable, but there was a "what more can i do with the hand i`ve been dealt" feel to his words.
We`ve had some shite seasons during my time as a Blade but i can`t think of a time when we`ve had so many uncoordinated, talentless, non footballing tree stumps in the squad.
When Speed introduced Andy Reid into the blackwell donkey factory, he shone out like an aston martin in a road full of rusty reliant robins. even when he was underpar he gave us hope with every ball to his feet. The rest of the squad, well, it`s more a case of 1/ can he control it, 2/ can he keep the ball within the confines of the playing field & 3/ no he can`t.

I've read various rumours online about Adams resigning and or being given two games to turn things around. The top and bottom of this is, we as fans can't be blaming a manager for a poor run of results when he has (a) inherited a threadbare squad and (b) had been given no money in the transfer window to bring in any decent players to address some of the obvious weaknesses. I think the buck firmly stops with the board and we should not be looking for Adams as a scapegoat for their shortcomings. McCabe has overseen the most dramatic decline of our fortunes in recent history and although we have a ground and facilities to be proud of, we have team that is of League 1 standard.
The facts are clear to me and financially, we've been sold a dummy. McCabe has presided over the most obvious fire sale I have ever seen and the club has been run on a tighter budget than other clubs in administration. The issue with SUFC is, all our debt is tied up with McCabe and not the banks. We could possibly do a deal with a bank or other creditor, but directors are hard to appease when they've got £50m (or so he says) invested. If a buyer comes along tomorrow, will McCabe demand full value and hold us to ranson? I suspect the answer to that is yes and it'll be a while before we see the back of him. My view is this and it's very simple. The supporters at SUFC need to grow a pair and start protesting against the current board of directors and the majority shareholder Mr McCabe. Directors and major shareholders don't qualify automatically for an easy ride and history has shown, that with pressure, we can get these people out of our club.
Get out of club Get out of club You tax dodging b*****d Get out of club
