Poor old Muttley - nobody challenged you or agreed with you on this one. I see your point, but we cannot lay everything at McCabe's door, can we? Loans, sales, buys, tactics, strategy, confidence, poor management earlier in the season (and now?) - all these are to blame. I am just grateful for a loyal band of Blades who stick through thick and thin. In my memory, it's been like that for over forty years.

I think we can totally blame McCabe. He's been playing with United's money for years making bad choices when it comes to investment which he has propped up by selling all our best players thereby ruining the football side of things. Spending on the first team seems to have been a low priority for years even when it comes to managers where he has always taken the cheap option. You buy cheap crap, you get cheap crap!

The squad that started the season couldn`t put a goal past a eurovision song contest winner. The whole lot of `em stank of "cheap option" especially the manager.
But the chairman didn`t give a shit, he outrageously let Blackie keep his job despite the obvious lack of tactics & football, did he care, not a jot. He finally caved in much too late by sacking KB after the transfer window had closed, but then he again kept his dosh firmly in his jockstrap by appointing the cheap`un from within.
Last season was a complete waste of time, if Blackwell had been shoved out after the play off fiasco & a careful appointment made we wouldn`t be in this deep vat of excrement. McCabe totally to blame for his slipshod view of our footballing side.
muttley has it spot on

Fred, Red Bladder and Muttley, I bow to you all, I guess you are right. I was trying to make some excuse for McCabe, thin as it was. I still hope that we don't go down, but we have got to start winning again, and that ain't easy.

'Loans' - brought on by player sales = McCabe
'sales' - Who sold the players = McCabe
'buys' - Who gave the money (or lack of it), and who dictates the wages = McCabe
'tactics' - Who appointed the cheap managers = McCabe
'strategy' - Dictated by finances = McCabe
'confidence' - brought on by bad results as a result of bad sales and bad purchases = McCabe
'poor management earlier in the season (and now?)' - appointed by McCabe
Is this fair comment?

Attilla.....that's the fairest comment I've heard so far.
false promises, lies, selling our souls into an imploding property market.....
Never mind, at least McCabe will sleep comfortably in his superkingsize bed, deep in the bowels of Chateau "je suis Ok Jaques"

Yep, I agree Attila. I think you made your point quite succinctly too, Muttley at the beginning of this thread.
