Preston have improved a little under Phill brown getting browner, but still, just like the marvellous opportunities we had against the might of scunny, palace & derby this is a very winnable game, which of course we will therefore lose.
Whoever made the decision to part with Vokes because the goalscoring fury of Hendo, Bent & boggy would thump us to safety needs hanging from the clothesline by the gonads.
Neil Collins will be looking forward to playing against his old club & i`m sure their forwards will be looking forward to it too.
Williamson is available for us which may take the number of potential footballers in the side to 5. shame about the other 6.
Will Micky go to youth? will micky drop hendo? will micky send us on a run of 5 wins?. will micky bollocks.
From the BBC site....
Preston will again be without defenders Sean St Ledger and Leon Cort, who both have leg injuries.
Conor McLaughlin, David Gray and Amine Linganzi are still out and may not feature again this season.
United have Lee Williamson back from suspension, but will need to assess Stephen Quinn (knee), Daniel Bogdanovic (leg) and Joe Mattock (groin).
Ched Evans (knee) remains sidelined along with Richard Cresswell, who has groin and Achilles problems.
MATCH PREVIEW The division's bottom two meet at Deepdale and look certain to meet again in League One next season. Defeat is simply not an option for either side if they are to have any real chance of avoiding the drop.
Preston are at least making a fight of it and look the more likely of the two clubs to pull off a dramatic escape. They have taken 11 points from the last available 18 and are much improved under boss Phil Brown.
North End have scored in all of their last 12 league games - a feat matched only by the division's form side, Reading - whereas United continue to struggle in front of goal. The Blades have netted a paltry 35 Championship goals this season - fewer than any other team.
Rock bottom and having suffered three consecutive defeats, the Yorkshire outfit are eight points from safety. They have won only two of their last 20 league games and have lost six in a row on their travels, failing to score in their last three away matches.
MATCH FACTS Head-to-head
Sheffield United have won 45 and Preston 31 of the 102 previous matches between these clubs. A win for United would complete their first league 'double' over North End for 55 years. Preston
Preston have kept only one clean sheet in 2011, and four all season. They have won three, drawn eight and lost seven of their matches since Phil Brown took over as manager. North End have dropped 32 points this season from winning positions - more than any other Championship side - having drawn seven and lost six matches after being in front. They are yet to win a league game this term after conceding the opening goal. Sheffield United
Only one of United's nine league wins this season has been by more than a single goal (2-0 v Leeds). They have won two, drawn four and lost 13 of their matches since Micky Adams took over as Blades boss. Neill Collins could face his former club.

half time
Slew brings good save, scratchhead Hume does a lot of ham acting & chris brown misses an absolute sitter. looking like 0-0, er which it is
Good to see Slew & Maguire starting, still plenty of weak links to offset that.

Riise. who is a footballer misses from 3 feet, hits bar instead, taking lessons from Hendo (who isn`t a footballer) there, well except hendo would`ve put it over of course.
and now typically preston go & score, treacy free kick plops in.
1 down :-(

Monty close to scoring, great save, normally a `keeper would expect a shot from monty to be put out for a throw in but he gets lucky , we should`ve had a pen for foul on quinny and...
as usual whenever we show a bit of hope, preston score
2 down
make that 1 down SLEW mazy dribble scores second attempt
2-1 down

Hendo misses another sitter.
Renewed my ST this morning. Need my head checking. I'd never want us to lose, but I want relegation confirmed so we can have some answers from McCabe and Birch.

The only interest in the end of the season will Palace and Donny join us. Donny joining us will be funny considering how cocky they got.
Anyway onwards and downwards.
I wonder if they'll do a lap of dishonour at the end of season??
If they do they should be throwing some cash at the fans as they run round.

After the clambering for SOD as our manager, perhaps his true worth is now being shown at Donny?, bereft of our Billy , his side`s form has been as pathetic as ours recently.
I`ll give Micky this, we have created more chances since he became manager, but we too don`t have a Billy Sharp to took `em away. Vokes was just looking likely but McCabe didn`t want to take any more tanners out his padlocked money belt & it therefore came to pass that hendo, bent & boggy would reap f**k all
On small things can relegation sit.

Im glad he didnt become our manager - I feel like throwing myself under a bus everytime he comes on the wireless! He has about as much personality as a dead fox!

Awful miss but with young Riise you feel it was a one off, next time he`d smack the back of the net with his finish...
with Hendo/cresswell etc. you get used to the calamitous finishing, knowing next time they are just as likely to smack the back of the neck of a bloke in row Z as the ball careers of the kop roof .
